These are some pictures from the 1999 Simon Kenton Frontier Festival.

Four of the reenactors in the street in Old Washington; Barb, Becca, John & Sue

Jon Hagee set up a little side trip for the reenactors to visit Kenton's Station, site of Simon Kenton's home. While we were there, the descendents of Simon Girty showed up from Canada along with two actors who also portray Girty, whom we engaged in a discussion of their veiws of why Simon Girty deserted the American cause.

A colonial woman who is unable to pay her late husband's debts is sold off in the Indentured Servant Sale, to that scoundrel Simon Girty

Barb talks to her new "master", Simon Girty, who just bought her in the Indentured Servant Sale. We suspect Barb wasn't altogether displeased with the transaction.

A couple of pictures of the aged Simon Kenton, as portrayed by Mel Hankla of Jamestown, KY.

A picture in one of the primitive camps of some of the participants, Kenton Kin, and Simon Girty (Simon, please email me your real name & I'll put it out here, OK?

Another picture in camp, this one a spirited discussion between some of the reenactors and Girty kin.

Many thinks to the reenactors who put on a delicious potluck supper on short notice for the participants, Kenton & Girty kin and invited guests.

Phil "Dogface" Spelling relaxes with his dinner after a long day running the shooting range.

John Hagee shows little Becca some of his accoutrements in the quiet time after dinner and before the play.

In the early evening twilight, just as the visitors were coming into town for the play, we ran a little street skit portraying an Indian abduction of a pioneer woman and a child and their subsequent rescue by the local frontiersmen. Here's a shot of Ken, leader of the raiding "Indians", all painted up for the warpath just before the skit.

A picture of the Purple Turtle camp, with Dan "Stonecutter" Fulton's camp with wife Jean "Mourning Dove"' in the foreground.

A "Best Frontier Costume" contest.

Some shots from the parade on Sunday afternoon.
